About INF-FNI
Founded in 1953 at a small conference center in Marin-Montalivet, France, the International Naturist Federation (INF-FNI) grew out of a series of international naturist gatherings in the years after World War II. Dr. Richard Ehrmann of Austria served as its first president, with founding delegations from France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Great Britain. Today, seventy years later, INF-FNI represents 41 member countries and more than 450,000 naturists worldwide, and its membership card is the most widely recognized in the naturist world.
INF-FNI is naturism's closest thing to a global governing body. Its General Assembly, held every two years as the World Congress, brings member federations together to set shared standards, elect leadership, and decide the direction of the movement. Day-to-day operations run through a volunteer Central Committee: a president, two vice presidents, and regional officers covering Europe, the Americas, and Africa/Asia-Pacific, none of them salaried. Between assemblies, INF-FNI organizes an International Swimming Gala, a pétanque tournament, and other gatherings, and publishes Focus, its newsletter, every two months in seven languages.
